Sleep Issues | G. S. Katz

Drank a pint of Smithwicks around 7pm
Split a plate of nachos with a friend
Drank 2 fingers of Wild Turkey 101 at 9:30pm
Ate Chicken and pasta around 10pm
Small arugula salad too
Hard some coconut sorbet at 10:30
Fell asleep watching political rhetoric at 11pm
Went to official bed

Dreamed about Mister Ed
The talking horse TV show
Told my wife about it at 3am
She was partially asleep
Had never heard of Mister Ed
She’s a UK product
Told me I was crazy

Tossed and turned after that
Took melatonin at 4am
Finally fell asleep at 6am
Up at 8
The moral of the story ?

Duh
Beats me

Twinkling Lights | Ian Lewis Copestick

The sky is dark purple
And I can’t see a single star
The only things twinkling
Are faraway orange streetlights
On the horizon
It still looks pretty good though
Even if they are man made
And not the type of things
That people usually get
Romantic about
A twinkling light is a twinkling light
At the end of the day
Living in a run down environment
You have to take your romance
Wherever you can get it

Insight | Dinka Bednjacic

I found a shine
in a smile,
glow on your face
even when you cry

There is no regret-
in the words you write,
or the letters you’ve never posted-
Like all the loves you have found-
Loves,
You have
Lost it
I have insight in the ways we have lived

Becoming open to the gentle rain-
like a meadows in spring
When all is due to be born

You are such gladness,
the shadow that will shelter behind the door,
found in a place that we would cry,
turns away
To wither and die

You are truly
a listener of your own thought,
the warrior of wounds

This joy,
will ease our fears,
with a baby
in hand

Hold
Gaze for a while

Autobiography | Stan Morrison

I gave mrs fields my recipes, advised ann landers
I later served in the army under colonel sanders
I went to junior high with dr sholls, and then
I graduated rice university with uncle ben
I also dated Julia child
until things got too wild
she said she was on a mission
and I had to get outa the kitchen
in my opera debut I played palyacho
I knew all the greats and the not so
many more memories to mention
thank you for your kind attention
….and that’s the truth!

You Are My Muse | Mónika Tóth

Dedicated my best Romanian friend Vasile

You are my muse
Your name
A tiny tattoo
On my neck
You are my muse
My words are endless
Happiness in my soul
How precious you are

A Sadness in My Heart | Debra Sasak Ross

There is a sadness
In my heart
That never goes away.
It follows me
Like a shadow
Every night and every day.

It has become
A play- thing of sorts
Like a long-lost teddy bear
It makes me shed tears
When I need to
And it brings me a little comfort
When I need that too,

But someday I hope to lose
This sorrowful shadow of mine
And find something better
To ease my weary mind.

What Else for Now | Krushna Chandra Mishra

Much has been happening these days .
The world around me is changing very fast.
I find my own universe lies threatened with new possibilities.

I wait and watch and enjoy how erasure is a pleasing thing.
I like only to cling to my past for the ring of security is still there.
I see the ring as I hear how everybody near and dear comforts me.

Today my world has expanded far and wide leaving me expecting much.
The ring of my past heard in my silent hours brings the clamour of demands alive.
I see everybody around- father, mother, brothers and sisters with many more- consoling me.

Am I desperate today ? Am I very sure my world of explanations is growing unchanged
Despite wind of change sweeping every floor of expectations and dreams at a magician’s speed?
There is an answer still- all is so wrought already well , there can hardly be any ill!
