Non-Essential Worker Blues | Stan Morrison - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Non-Essential Worker Blues | Stan Morrison

redundant what a word
3 vowels and 9 letters
2 more than useless
comes down to 1 word
nothing can be done
to reverse the verdict

redundant much worse
than useless washed up
meter says nada zero zilch
there can be no exception
time to pack it in and get
no bail out for redundant
there’s no place left to go

Exhaustion-2020 | Stephanie Stone - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Exhaustion-2020 | Stephanie Stone

Mother Earth became weary
From pollution and noise
She sent forth a virus
To vacate her lands

The virus grew
Causing people to fear
Mother Earth rested
As the people dropped tears

From the grounds sprang spring
Signs of new life
While living stayed
Mostly cooped inside

As Mother Earth regenerated
People realized their gratitude
Zoom became of high demand
In place of a hug

No one shall know
What happens in the future
But Mother Earth
Got her well deserved rest

And, people?
They got to understand
That they need people
Connection

And, the Earth

Airborne Yesterday | Ivan Jenson - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Airborne Yesterday | Ivan Jenson

Listen
it’s not you
it’s this pandemic
so I kinda need
personal space
right now
I need to stay
at least six feet
away from love
so blame the virus
for what is happening
with us
under other circumstances
I would kiss you
just below your earlobe
but right now
I’m a total germaphobe
look I know you’re not pleased
but what hurts me most
is not that you cried
but that you sneezed

Corona Virus | Sarah Shahzad - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Corona Virus | Sarah Shahzad

This virus brought us far,
But we can’t get back by car,
It spreads itself far,
All without any mark,

Inadequate protection let it enters us,
Without us knowing it is there,
As it begins attacking cells,
As the attack, rings just as a bell,

We might run fast,
But can’t avoid the virus,
As it infects the iris,
As there’s no way out,

We might eat grapes,
Without knowing the escape,
As it flies through the body,
As a shape free to undertake,

Round but not weak,
As it looks for a victim,
Not immune to such infection,
That victim is seeking protection,
A protection as that virus is nonstop.
