Other Races Won | Christine Emmert - Dive into the Depths of Contemporary Voices

Other Races Won | Christine Emmert

I failed to break the ribbon.
Panting and falling into alien arms.
What was won before
suddenly lost.
Fallen angels know the pain of earth
when they tried to outrun
the storms.

Mallet | Sawyer Carpenter - Dive into the Depths of Contemporary Voices

Mallet | Sawyer Carpenter

If I had a magic
mallet that could
knock my world
back into place
of course
I would use it
Like a cartoon character
frenzy of action
I would fix the earth.

The Infidel | Michael Marrotti - Dive into the Depths of Contemporary Voices

The Infidel | Michael Marrotti

I awoke from my
living nightmare
into your American
dream
I sense a void
growing
wider each
passing day
A contempt
for this world
and forfeiture
of hope
This is as good
as it gets
and that’s not
good enough
For the sake
of the self
I lost
long ago
I wish to see
in my lifetime
the downfall
of a system
That’s bred
a multitude of
indifference
suffering
and disdain
To be replaced
by a new generation
of benevolent souls
Willing to be
the change
that is needed
The sacrifice
to benefit
the all

Gaze | Tandem - Dive into the Depths of Contemporary Voices

Gaze | Tandem

It would pain
deeply not
to hold a proper
glance
much less
a hardened gaze
like a leer
with more poison.

The Untitled Flag | Rohit Sagolsem - Dive into the Depths of Contemporary Voices

The Untitled Flag | Rohit Sagolsem

What will be the color of our flag? When mankind is united
Will it be green? Will it be blue?
Will it be red or just transparent.
I wonder if the flag will bear a symbol.
A united fist or the symbol of yin and yang
Describing not one nation but humanity as a whole
Men will sing one song about
Our mother earth, our so-called beloved home
Men will raised the flag high, reaching every heart and soul
Respecting every caste, color and religion
Men will love endlessly and share bread
Children will grow up happy and strong
No parent will beg, no child will be sold
No child will be killed, none will sleep empty at dawn
Every mother will see her kids grow up
Living in a lively world with no war or hatred
We’ll walk to the isle together till we meet our fate
The only question that remains,
Will we be there when the flag of one is being raised?

Silent Sisters | HR Creel - Dive into the Depths of Contemporary Voices

Silent Sisters | HR Creel

They stand in rows, each one
a flower of absolutism, empty
mouths that would offer me
kindnesses and wisdom, if
only they had not made
their solemn vows, if only
they did not close wider
worlds off in their faith.
