Because Besides You | David Dephy - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Because Besides You | David Dephy

The path into the dark is golden.
I am moving forward to reach the
point. My shadow is floating behind
me like the answer of the secret which
had been stolen and we are hungry for
light and still we are going,
despite everything, despite the rules –
the rules that governed you already mooned,
despite the laws of the universe speechless,
you spurred yourself into life… Because,
besides you I am not searching anything in you.

Shattering Split of a Dumpling's Beauty | Christine Emmert - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Shattering Split of a Dumpling’s Beauty | Christine Emmert

Pale yellow as winter sun I pared it away
under the knife
urging it open to my sight.
Breaking through the round perfect globe of a dumpling.
There was that sigh
that came from this execution.
A sigh that we break perfection
for the sake of our own gluttony.
And then
I lift the fork
to my lips
to taste what I desire.
My assassination of the dumpling.
The gravies on my plate draw back.
The witness to my crime.

Lockdown Lament | Ivan Jenson - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Lockdown Lament | Ivan Jenson

I long to sit with you
in a crowded theatre
so I can yell
“desire!”
because from
here to California
it is love in the time
of Corona
and so I will
live stream me
if you promise
to FaceTime you
because our
favorite restaurant
is closed except
for take-out
so we have to
go to a park
if we want to
make out
and no this pill
I am giving you
is not ecstasy
even better
sweetheart
it’s vitamin C

Succour | JayM - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Succour | JayM

A treasure discovered,
A prayer compiled,
In concert with a desire,
One with shore sight,
A sight for sore eyes,
Strolling thoughts

Footprints upon my soul,
Walk safely in the light of wisdom.
On crashing waves,
Fairies of light sway,
Their tune a cadence,
Of the song of the private river of ages.

A prayer of fairies,
Starry wands aglow,
Bearing gifts of plenty-
An upward gaze,
Parting cloud curtains,
Drops of rain, each a gem.

A single benign preserve of,
A kind word, a soaring trill,
Thoughts of care, turn to smiles.

A bounty,
Of emotional, spiritual benevolence.
Peace,
Rained upon each world,
Weary with care…
