haiku

Nine Odd Haiku | Denny E. Marshall

knew had chance
name of new zine
rejection

don’t like things
that spin
removed from earth

timber area
internet usage triples
it’s login season

super computer
lightning fast and powerful
cape could be better

train station nary
locomotives on steel tracks
never seem to move

new pro football team
doubt they go to super bowl
they pick the name punts

strike long metal blade
on the thick stone prison wall
penn stronger than sword

university
offers three hundred degrees
must be an oven

the strict judge gave him
punishment of death sentence
ask, commas allowed?

Ten Horror Haiku | Denny E. Marshall

fear engulfs
as shown new home
a pine box

locked inside coffin
escape only to find out
in bigger casket

new voice mail message
“dead & unavailable “
since grim reaper call

zombies
get
ahead

pointed at forehead
barrel just as terrifying
as the tank attached

spinning on a wheel
near death realize knife thrower
is an amateur

keep running down road
cornfields might be bad idea
as scarecrows chase you

zombie fast food place
list new item on menu
brain bowls with free drink

fear the corn farmer
as thrown into large grain bin
full of hungry rats

group escapes zombies
hide in large warm metal pond
cannibals add logs

Six Haiku | Denny E. Marshall

locked in your wife’s car
evil in-dash computer
seeks revenge and death

in ear
not tiny hearing aid
new smart phone

large cell phone study
find brain damage caused by tons
of useless minutes

this generation
when they give teacher apple
gift is expensive

four seasons
named
again the fall guy

superman stuck
worthy foe
superglue

Six UFO Haiku | Denny E. Marshall

UFO stranded
nothing wrong with the spaceship
lost the keys again

landing UFO
earthlings are surprised they had
no concept of clothes

two recent reports
UFO sightings rising
drone sales increasing

landing UFO
destination the South Pole
looking for ice cubes

landing UFO
is only a half-inch wide
eaten by small bird

landing UFO
occupant’s shade of purple
not the color green
