living a lie poems

Disastrous Lie | Kellie Britton

and so here we are again
in the same place we were before
talking about nothing different –
pretending everything is ok
when it clearly isn’t – and why
should it matter anyway because,
even if it were, we wouldn’t
work on anything important –
always skirting the issue
acting as if nothing is going on –
living a massive, disastrous lie

Captive to the Fool | Roger Still

Notice how the king is entranced
By the noises of the jester
Though they are crude, he is in love
With the netherworld of life
Watching as his jester takes him
To the dingiest depths of depravity
Then scales onto heights of impropriety
When the time for bequeathing comes
The jester will walk away with jewels.
