poems about wonder

Felicity | JD DeHart

No, not the TV program
we binge-watched last
January.
Not knocking it, but I’m
talking about that lack
of care that’s lovely.
Not reckless, not lazy,
just an hour or more
of contented wonder.

The Unremembered Elegance of Cinema Screen Curtains | Steve Denehan

Velvet.
Of course, they were velvet.
That electric silence when they started to part.
It was glorious.
The curtains beckoned us to other worlds.
We were grateful and eager and we walked through.
We, the audience, an intrepid newborn community of explorers and optimists.
Rarely though, did the film deliver on the curtain’s promise,
And afterward,
we talked of other things as we filed out to O’Connell Street.

Endless Wonders | Stan Morrison

It takes a while for pale green dots
To turn into some grape varietal
It takes only time, soil, rain, sun
No need for supervision or religion
These sacred green dot embryos
Own all the information in code
To build asymmetric conical clusters
The endless wonders that abound
Stakes and trellises optional
