self-medication poems

Searching | Chris Byrne

We all search, ever
Looking for that one
Thing we think we feel
Is missing, an irreplaceable
Loss something that never
Existed yet we never look
Inside ourselves to see
What’s missing before
Deciding if it can
Be replaced.

Medicate | Edgar Law

Everyone seeks
A salve of some kind
Be it voices
On a screen to soothe
Or liquid
Some even break the law
Burning selves further
Until the cycle renews.
