Beginning | Fotoula Reynolds

There is a pleasant sound
In the quiet of a garden
I always want to be in it
As I dig into the ground
I can’t get any closer to nature
Than with my hands in the soil
It feels like becoming one
With something, something
That is more than me

I bring plants into the world
Hoping that I will also grow
I wear quiet around my wrists
It reminds me to let rush move on
And use solitude as a cure
To the loudness in the day
Silence sanctifies my soul
And words are used purely
As decoration in my life
The smell of the earth leads
Me to believe that I, too, am
Beginning

Some Days | Hubun - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Some Days | Hubun

There’s four walls and a ceiling
A gaping hole in the ground
Creeping to the far corner afraid to make a sound
But soon my teeth start grinding as I welcome the pain
It shoots through my body, paralyzing, crippling me
It wipes my mind clean then screams into the silence
The thoughts that butcher me in my sleep
And sit with me in my seat
And hitch a ride on my shoulders as I walk down the street

Some nights I wonder why I can’t be a log
Just hit the ground and stay anything but awoke
Can’t slumber coz there’s a war up ahead that manages to pierce the center stage
And lay to waste every single beam that fights it’s way through the barren stage littered with carnage
It’s sits on my chest, sniggering
Push it away but it hugs me tighter
Some days I have some summer
Some days I have nada
Some days the glass is full
And others it’s just broken
I want to turn it off but that switch is just broken, or doesn’t exist or hiding in plain sight
Guess I’ll never know.

Lost in Myself | Apeksh Mahakalkar

Let’s get into our own
Forgetting all known,
Think about what you are,
For that you are not far,

What is the motive,
That remains unnotice,
But I don’t need to care,
It’s really going fair,

I feel to leave everything,
And think about something,
That’s my thing,
I would love such anything,

It’s not intresting,
To follow uninteresting,
Follow your mind,
A way gets find.

My Immortal | Mehak Gupta Grover - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

My Immortal | Mehak Gupta Grover

The allure of my existence,
the power of my nurturing,
my happiness, my chirpiness,
the reason of me- being me.

The affinity of my mother,
the propensity of my father,
the wanton mischief of my siblings,
the benevolence of My family.

Then, one day I had to furlough
for a new beginning.
Bequeathing behind my eternal part
the part that completed me.

Eventually, I somehow balanced
and evolved into a new identity.
Giving away my babyish persona
and turning into a noblewoman.

I accepted this mutation
of melancholy and jumbled emotions
that preceded my heart
to an obscure way.

I lead a blithesome excursion
of gaiety and benevolence.
Still, a fragment of me
seek for it’s fullness.

Collision | Justateddyberry - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Collision | Justateddyberry

Perhaps I collide too much with this world
I go against the flow
And it seems like I don’t belong
But I’m not courageous enough
To say I can make a change
For the better
Everyone’s word
Carries a different meaning along with it
And I thought I’d learnt
But then I realize again and again
Even after understanding all that I know
It’s almost like
I still don’t know anything
About this world
It’s just so confusing
And the levels keeps getting higher
The layers of masks
Piling and piling
Till I don’t know what I’m supposed to see
Or if what I know
Is still true
Or perhaps
Everything has already changed
It’s as if
My version is outdated
And I’ve returned to a level of a kid
Where doors are shut
And sounds are muted
Where I have to fight
All the levels again
