Break Maiden Bet, (Off-Track) | Chad M. Horn

broke from start gate unbroken unladen
circulatory soul-sprint reviving
breaking stride to be beside Break Maiden
sometimes showing, (more often: surviving)
racing under extreme pressure, (driving)
telephotographic sights surveyor
coddled and throttled, thoroughly thriving
re-learning lingo, equine naysayer
track conditions call for added layer
both underbettors and overthinkers
homestretch prayer: Let her be a ‘stayer’
saddling up, removing our blinkers
(big picture focused with blinkers detached)
intuiion predicted early scratch

Baseball | Natalie Bentley

Why do they stand,
Why do they run,
Now they are brushing
the field,
Why do they wait?
I fear I will never
understand why some
games are seen
as so important.
