Chin up. Don’t be so contradicting.
You are the emblem of happiness
in your yellow dress
with your thick green legs
making us all green with envy.
Stand tall with that stalk of yours.
If you’re so sad, where’s the hope
for the rest of us in the garden,
living so close to the dirt, away
from what’s in your reach.
You complain of weeds
attracted to your rich roots,
just look up already–
it’s your job to eat the sunlight.
I live among beauties
but we are frail, and struggle
to bloom from the soil,
to blossom in a crowd.
Tower over us. We can’t
admire you while you droop.
