Suffocation | Catherine Howe

Warm air suffocates my legs in a sublime choke hold.
Rain smears my vision through tempered glass.
Saliva forms in my throat as lightning strikes.
Hard and fast thunder hits from behind.
Lone.
Painful.
Cold.
Wounded.
Sun crosses my face with shining freshness.
Clouds clear for my eyes only to reveal a sky of blue.
The road ahead is as open and wide as my mind.
Slowly and steadily I take my first steps.
Held.
Repaired.
Warm.
Home.
