Work Here | Sawyer Carpenter
My raucous
surroundings don’t care
that I’m trying to work
here
I could tell them
I’m trying to spin
a world of fiction
trying to create
another earth
They would still
continue with their
ridiculous noise.

In great honour you hold
Your superiors and seniors
To show them what
In your heart stands heaped
As hatred and disgust and distrust
And how in discharge of what they say
Duty you stand relieved when they see
Everything you do is
Up to standards of expected honour
And approved norms
And you deserve rewards
That the best devoted workmen
Are recommended for with a gloss.
A place filled with toxicity.
Influence speaks with fluency.
Flaws are under scrutiny.
Opinions are mutiny.
Gossiping is trendy
and always up to date.
Colleagues are user-friendly,
greedy and full of hate.
If only I could stay at home
with no worries or headache, I would.
But it would be best to stay calm
while in this place, for family’s sake.
