Be Who You Are | Ann Christine Tabaka - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Be Who You Are | Ann Christine Tabaka

“Be who you are” they say.
But who I am
is not who I
want to be …
dream to be …
need to be …
I desire to be so much more.
To soar above the drab and mundane
that fills my days.
To shine brighter than now.
To grow beyond safe.
My voice to lift above the throng,
and be heard throughout the echo of time
To not be limited by
“who you are.”

Sunshine Will Always Come | Antoine Kidd - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Sunshine Will Always Come | Antoine Kidd

There are times when it seems
like the clouds will never go away.
Times when It seems like the sun
will never show its beautiful rays again.
Those days the skies are grey,
and the days are cold.
The nights are quiet,
terrifying and lonely.
Those days when there
isn’t a creature in sight.
Everything is dry.
Mother nature is withering and dying.

Leaving plants lifeless
and animals to starve.
If only it would just rain,
nature can receive the nourishment it needs.
Once the rain comes in,
it starts off as slow droplets.
Drops trickle one by one,
giving pebbles of hydration to the land.
Just enough to wet the pedals of a dying rose.
After a few minutes, the clouds get heavier
and the sky completely opens.
The water flows freely through the sky as if
someone pulled back a shower curtain.
The rain hits the grown
with tremendous force.
Overbearing, but giving life to everything it touches.

When the rain stops.
The earth seems calm and sincere.
The clouds diminish while the
sun pokes its rays out
from behind them.
The sun shines like a chandelier,
casting light to mother nature’s living room.
Ground critters poke their
heads from their burrow.
Creatures of the sky spread their wings.
As the clouds disappear completely,
things become clear.
Even though some days
may be cloudy and cold.
Even when some days seem overwhelming.
There will always be a day when
the sun comes out to deliver joy.

Jubilation of Possibility | Gary Slater - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Jubilation of Possibility | Gary Slater

Waking to a new day of promise
I step out into a gleaming world
Where I know I can succeed
If only I apply myself and strive
To be the best version of me possible
Inner drive will sustain me
I understand what to do
One step in front of the other
A little at a time until the goal is reached
Excitement and jubilation of possibility

Far Far Away | Stan Morrison - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Far Far Away | Stan Morrison

don’t say horizons are too far away
they’re closer to where you are now
than where you’re capable of being
go for the well-beyond
set off your imagination
you’ll find new horizons
the unexpected is always there to find
the unrehearsed has the best surprises
for true seekers there is no final frontier

When the Blaze Begins | Heath Brougher - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

When the Blaze Begins | Heath Brougher

There are occasions when
that ever-burning flicker
of a flame is suddenly swept up
by gale-force inspiration and grows
into giant whorls of blazing creativity
as the mind sheds its inner turbulence
and spills it out onto the canvass of the page.
During these moments that little flicker
suddenly spreads into a scorching
wildfire of thoughts, its flames lashing out
like fiery orange fangs biting upward at the sky.

Who Am I? | Sunita Sahoo - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Who Am I? | Sunita Sahoo

I’m a lone fighter,
With every wound inflicted on my soul, I shine brighter!
I’m a survivor,
Hard and bitter times have set my soul on fire!
I’m an achiever,
Never believed in the words “Everything is Over”!
I’m a warrior,
Have faced and vanquished my barrier!
I’m a believer,
I can make it to the top through sheer endeavour!
I’m ME,
Can’t you see?
I am the LOCK and I am the KEY!
