corrupt leaders poems

Current Events | Stan Morrison

days blur and lose their names
nights coagulate into darkness
leaders lack vision and direction
heroes can’t provide any cover
the plastic oceans all lifeless
flooding coastlines with debris
famine, cholera, dengue, ebola
stubborn bothersome third world
luckily all my stocks are now up
our arctic oil wells are gushing
finally, nothing to worry about

like Moses and the burning bush
there is a conflagration of morality
with nonstop crimes and coverups
self-enrichment and debauches
that defy our ability to be shocked
while the doer’s flame isn’t snuffed out

then the senate parts the polluted waters
so the doer and the gang of thousands
can skate on through mockingly unscathed

Wake-Up Call | Stan Morrison

The sun sets over the Atlantic ocean
it all depends on your point of view
no matter how many bibles you thump
top secret documents cannot be
refuge for botched clandestine acts
before this war there were wars
before this lie there were lies
history is full of unfamiliar people
selling us lies sending us to wars
when truth is known no surprise
the revolution will not be televised.
