The Worst | Brad Constantine - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

The Worst | Brad Constantine

After many years on this earth
I’m outraged that we are
Still the type of nation where
Spineless leaders cower at
The feet of degenerates who
Want to destroy other souls
Just because of the color of their skin
Or the origins of their families,
That we still have so few voices in
One of our major parties
Willing to stand up for the weakest
Among us rather than doing the bidding
Of the worst elements of our society
Shame on all of them for not
Defending our democracy

Both Sides Are the Same | Robert Pickering - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Both Sides Are the Same | Robert Pickering

both sides are the same
what a gigantic falsity

even a simple examination
proves that there are huge differences

one side wants to help the poor
the other says the poor are deviants

one side wants to impose their religion
the other opposes forcing people to worship

one side wants to give the rich all the money
the other side thinks we can all pay our fair share

one side sees a world of isolation, fear and war
the other values diplomacy and relationships

one side is authoritarian
the other is collaborative

the two sides are not the same at all
it’s a huge disservice to say they are

yet every day the media vomits out noise
perpetuating this false equivalence

in the meantime
democracy dies

Both Sides Are Equivalent | Proxy - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Both Sides Are Equivalent | Proxy

You’ll hear all the talking heads
Talk about how
Both sides are equivalent
Spreading the false idea
That the policies each side promotes
Are somehow the same
When even the slightest examination
Reveals that one side’s policies
Destroy all that is good
And the other’s try to
Help others
Fending off the opposition’s base instincts
The difference between living
In an unequal hell or
A civilized society
Glossed over by people
Who claim to know
What they’re talking about

Destroying Everyone and Everything | Rodrigo Alcantara - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Destroying Everyone and Everything | Rodrigo Alcantara

I’m astonished at their
sheer cruelty, depravity,
hypocrisy, coldness,
the lengths they will go to
to mislead their followers
so they can get more power,
make more money.
At what point is enough enough?
When does this cruel push for riches end?
They’ll stop at nothing because
this is about much more than just money,
it’s about that horrible thing(s) that
happened to them as children and
that they have to punish the rest
of humanity for forever.
Go see a psychiatrist instead of
destroying everyone and everything else.

Hyperbolic Times | Benjamin Nardolilli - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Hyperbolic Times | Benjamin Nardolilli

These are hyperbolic times,
All the old descriptions are broken
Or they are inadequate for today,
As if we have outgrown the very words,
Like scandal or setback,
No one knows what will happen next
Because these waters
Are unexplored and unsourced,
They may be rivers, seas, lakes , or pools,
Involving waves in the distance
Or hills ready to come crashing down,
No one knows how things will stop either
Or the time necessary,
Events used to take their time to bleed
All the way to the front pages, now
We go from skirmish to war in days
And leak to resignation in hours.

Customary | Uiba Mangang - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Customary | Uiba Mangang

From a leaf to another leaf,
Leap the frogs in their rush paces,
In the molested water lake,
That has been used to clean every five years
Or, every season it need be coloured.
When the frogs becomes the beggar in suits,
He or she rates amount to be given!
The frogs croak with its honey pasted lips,
The fishes grasp it with fervent kisses-
Beggars provide drinks and throw big parties!
Blame games, designed crimes, show-room justice
Beggar turned boss, servant turned Satan:
They formed, embodied and they suffer,
Such’s been the laws of the water land!
