No Retreats | Jonathan Abayo

I sat beside
The quite stream
Tortoising and calm
Thrilled in mind
Aha! I heard a tune
A baby on mummy’s laps
Such was a giant spirit
No longer utter
Should I!
Would I!
Could I!
State of winning composure
Overwhelmed with failures
And discouraged with petty gains
I’m an ant, I’ll move on
I’m a lion so aggressive
My attitudes Leopard to sober
Hare in decision
I see future like giraffe
Tougher elephant
I don’t wanna be a Buffalo
Conscious antelope
I’m Kilimanjaro
I’m Everest
Call me Amazon
I’m Ngorongoro
My name is Atlantic
Call me Indian
Label me Pacific
Place my world Africa
My feet on America
My walks on Europe
Asia shout me universe
No limit on Earth,
Jupiter, Mars, shoot up Pluto
State of mind humour
Tragedy my experience
No regrets Sun
You have morning
You have afternoon
Let the night awhile
And shine your smile
Like Savanna blossoms
Bliss and twinkle
Everyday is tomorrow

Words of Wisdom | Sunita Sahoo

Hey You!
The one reading my message,
Have you discovered something new?
After overcoming life’s wreckage!

Why do you cry?
You are not alone!
You can still soar high,
Walking on varied paths unknown!

You may fail a million times,
But never give up trying!
See how your spirit climbs,
No wonder, it feels so satisfying!

Bloom like a Lotus,
Grow through the stagnant pools of filth!
When life seems out of focus,
Remember that you are being REBUILT!

The Bridge | Krushna Chandra Mishra

This is the very same old bridge.
I remember every bit of what once
happened here to be a matter to be
repeated time and again over several
of these past thirty five plus years,

You think perhaps I have forgotten
everything you said the first time
we met here unknown to each other.

I am with you today and that very day
has been with me all these years renewing
itself with every changing season as the day
grows longer or shares a part of it to make
our nights together longer for intenser moods
for a life of dense and complete experience.

Let’s then in growing humility acknowledge
all honest gifts of love and fulfillment this
bridge in its best stimulating silent presence
has bestowed upon us when we were strangers
to bridge our hearts for a happy marital boon for ever.

How Much | Mónika Tóth - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

How Much | Mónika Tóth

everyone knows my name,
everyone knows my face,
everyone knows my smile,
everyone knows my laugh,
everyone knows my voice,

but it doesn’t matter cause,
they don’t know my story,
they don’t know my scars,
they don’t know my lies,
they don’t know my pain,

they don’t know,
how much I’m breaking down,
how much I’m trying to hold on,
how much I’m losing my trust,
how much I’m struggling,
how much I’m dying
