Wishy-Washy | Ivan Jenson

I sense something
pending
that I don’t want
to talk about
because I am afraid
that it will jinx
the everyday magic
that doesn’t happen
all the time
in fact you can
feel it like
the hum of
electricity
in the air when
star-crossed lovers
meet by chance
in places like
the butcher’s counter
where one does not
expect romance
but there with the ham
and the cheese
she sneezes
and he says
‘bless you’
and this prepares
them to share
future bacteria
and the socially
acceptable
hysteria…
of togetherness
and I know this
is soon coming to
infect me
and I will again
feel lovable
and hopefully
hopelessly
incurable

Till Eternity Do Us Part | Welkin Siskin - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Till Eternity Do Us Part | Welkin Siskin

In a perfect world I shall come
With flesh not subjected to death,
And with stories untold sum
The mystery of love yet
With untarnished image,
And beget love that shall endure through time,
And cross all love hardships and maze,
And make love pure and sublime,
And smooch the eternity pledged by us
If by our passion we diffuse eternally
To come up with greater truth thus.
It’s not by virtue of things unknown truly,
But with love known—shared, tended and
cherished.
In a perfect world I shall come
With being unadulterated,
And with stories untold sum
And garner all the hearts yet.
Stages metamorphosed by purity,
Claim eternity perfected by time
And make love pure and sublime
With love subject to no deaths
but celebrated with chime.

Perfect Love in Small Measures | Pushmaotee Subrun - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Perfect Love in Small Measures | Pushmaotee Subrun

Many of us experience love in short measures
Making life perfect in small measures
Most flowers bloom and wilt soon,
Just as love vanishes like the unsteady moon
Or simply wilts, decays, meets death,
To be temporarily honoured with wreaths.

Encompassing a variety of emotional and mental states,
Love at one moment prospers, followed by hate
And ravaging jealousy which overpower,
Leading to satanic and animalistic behaviour.
Attraction and attachment vanish into thin air,
Love turns into a dream crusher or a snare.

All kindness and compassion go to the wind.
Romanticism, love and promises rewind,
Hate and abusive words dominate,
Promises of love discarded and left at the gate,
What dominates is devastating hate,
To the distress of the once-so-called soul mate.

The sentiment might appear again,
With nothing much to gain,
Making partners live in a fool’s paradise,
Lust, followed by intimacy, brings the honeymoon phase,
Gradually to be replaced by bewilderment as if in a maze,
Till the thunder terrifyingly again rumbles.

If love can be had in small measures
With all its pressures,
Why then, do we voluntarily and blindly,
So recklessly, so heedlessly,
Jump into the trap of vain declarations constantly?
Oh, the encroaching traps of love ephemerally!

I Love You With Every Heartbeat | David P. Carroll - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

I Love You With Every Heartbeat | David P. Carroll

My love for you is like a powerful storm
So powerful it beats every day for you
Through the storm wind and heavy rain
And my love for you will withstand every pain
It’s beating every day,
I Love You Sweetheart
And our hearts are so pure and
Our love is so sweet,
And listening to you in my heart beat
And sweetheart every day
I love you more with every heartbeat.
