Collision | Justateddyberry

Perhaps I collide too much with this world
I go against the flow
And it seems like I don’t belong
But I’m not courageous enough
To say I can make a change
For the better
Everyone’s word
Carries a different meaning along with it
And I thought I’d learnt
But then I realize again and again
Even after understanding all that I know
It’s almost like
I still don’t know anything
About this world
It’s just so confusing
And the levels keeps getting higher
The layers of masks
Piling and piling
Till I don’t know what I’m supposed to see
Or if what I know
Is still true
Or perhaps
Everything has already changed
It’s as if
My version is outdated
And I’ve returned to a level of a kid
Where doors are shut
And sounds are muted
Where I have to fight
All the levels again

Lawnmower Metaphors | JD DeHart - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Lawnmower Metaphors | JD DeHart

There is always plenty of time
to think while mowing.
I move in the same squarish
lines I always do.
First, I get up, then I shower,
then I pontificate.
The audience is trained
to look like they are listening.
Are they?
Finally, the swift stroke,
the edging work, and I am
on my home again, home again
like yesterday and the day
before, trying not to work late,
trying to sleep again
and remember my movements.

Smoking Caterpillar | Tara Lynn Hawk - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Smoking Caterpillar | Tara Lynn Hawk

I continue to suffer
from the lack of an all-seeing,
all-knowing oracle
Satisfying purpose continues
it’s long vacation away from me
I have experienced much
yet still I feel so innocent,
Well… most of the time
The I unwillingly wake up,
and admit sheepishly that I know better
I am on the downside
of my existence here
My theology of slightly superstitious atheism
offers to me little relief
“Live for the day” they say,
“Live for the moment”
As the mail elves bring forth
my auto insurance bill.

Thinking | Chris Byrne - Contemporary Poetry Website Featuring Notable Poems

Thinking | Chris Byrne

They ponder and wonder about
The impossible, always
Thinking about the unanswered
Questions, always doubting,
Sitting in silence, seeing all,
Saying nothing, just listening
To the quietness of life,
Attempting to understand
The realities of our vain
Existence, pondering,
Wondering, looking
For answers to
Non-existent
Questions.
